defensive minefield

1.) In naval mine warfare, a minefield laid in international waters or international straits with the declared intention of controlling shipping in defense of sea communications.

2.) In land mine warfare, a minefield laid in accordance with an established plan to prevent a penetration between positions and to strengthen the defense of the positions themselves.
